About Us

The University of Sewing is a BERNINA sewing machine and Longarm dealer in Bloomington, IN. We opened in 2017 to teach sewing. We currently sell apparel, quilting fabric, patterns, BERNINA and Bernette sewing machines, and sewing notions. We offer sewing classes, BERNINA mastery lessons, and events all year long. We service BERNINA and Bernette sewing machines. We’d like to personally invite you to stop by today for all your sewing needs.

INTEGRITY. Yes that one word sums up my experiences with University of Sewing. The entire staff has a desire to enable all their customers to enjoy their sewing time without the frustration of machine, fabric or other issues. I personally have had multiple situations in which UOS could have attempted to upsell a machine when I contacted them but they instead helped me to resolve my issue at the time. I knew when the time came to buy a new Bernina I would purchase it from UOS ....... even though I have 5 Bernina dealerships closer to me. Customer service is the number one priority when I make any purchase and when it comes to Bernina, NO ONE tops University of Sewing in customer service. And their knowledge, experience and inventory are second to none! My new machine has been preordered and the entire transaction has been completely stress free. They gave me a great deal with no need to price haggle. I truly believe University of Sewing is the BEST when it comes to Bernina and sewing!

I just finished two classes at university of Sewing. I left each class thrilled with what I learned. I attended a Mastery class and the second class focused on how to quilt in the hoop. Alice and Cheryl gave me an in-depth class with a lot of information on different techniques. Awesome class and the personnel was so helpful . Highly recommend taking classes at University of Sewing. Had an issue with a quilt I was working on so I called ahead of time and got the OK to bring it in. Margaret helped me and had me bring in my Juki to figure out what was going on. She spent an hour with me diagnosing the issue. I really love their shop, and will definitely be back for classes! High recommend!
